The 2023 Billboard Music Awards is getting ready to heat up the stage with some of the hottest acts in music, including the global K-pop sensation NewJeans!
On November 9, the Billboard Music Awards announced that NewJeans will be joining the lineup of performers for the upcoming award ceremony, which will air live on Sunday, November 19. NewJeans is nominated for two awards this year: Top Global K-Pop Artist and Top Global K-Pop Song (for their hit single “Ditto”).
NewJeans is a four-member girl group that debuted in 2021 under JYP Entertainment. The group consists of Nana, Jia, Eunji, and Sooyoung, who are all from different countries: Japan, China, Korea, and the United States, respectively. Their name stands for “New Generation of Jeans,” which reflects their diverse and trendy style.
NewJeans has been making waves in the music industry with their catchy songs, powerful performances, and charismatic personalities. They have topped various charts and broken records with their debut album “Get Up,” which sold over 1 million copies in the first week. They have also won several awards, such as the Rookie of the Year at the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards and the Best New Artist at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
NewJeans is not the only K-pop act that will be performing at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. BTS’s Jimin, who is nominated for three awards, including Top Selling Song (for his solo debut track “Like Crazy”), will also grace the stage with a live performance. Additionally, FIFTY FIFTY, who is nominated for Top Duo/Group and Top Global K-Pop Song (for their viral hit “Cupid”), will showcase their unique rap and dance skills.
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards will also feature performances by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus, and more. The award ceremony will be hosted by Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who are both nominated for Top Social Artist.
